Founder & Director, Literally Marketing

Sophie Tunnah, strategic marketing consultant

I've spent 20 years in marketing, from search and affiliates through to leading a 50-strong marketing team at board level. Now I help growing businesses get clear on where their marketing should go, and stay alongside them to make it happen.

My point of view

What I believe about marketing

Most marketing problems are clarity problems.

Businesses rarely lack effort or ideas. They lack a clear direction everyone can work to.

If it isn't tied to a commercial number, it's guesswork.

Clicks and likes only matter when you can connect them to revenue, margin or customers.

Use what you've got before buying more.

Most businesses have more audience, content and data than they're making use of.

The best plan is the one your team can run.

Strategy that sits in a drawer helps nobody.

Outside work

A little bit about me

Originally from Yorkshire, I've been based in Newcastle for over 20 years. I'm happiest outdoors, whether that's walking the Quayside or hiking the Cheviots, and my proudest moment so far is climbing Kilimanjaro in July 2023.

Yoga, netball and running keep me balanced. Coffee and cheese, always. Quiet time means thrillers, true crime, and anything about space.
